Rock Climbing RoX My SoX Off

Recently I joined a rock climbing session. Let me tell you, it was.... AWESOME. I love it!!! Unfortunately i didn't take much photos of the rock climbing thing. Darn. I really should take more photos so I don't have to write so much. A picture says a thousand words. Maybe we can draw a picture in our essay, and our 1000 words can be filled easily. I can't believe how smart I am. Hang Sem, you're never better than me. MUAHAHAHAHHAA.

Back to rock climbing. The lesson start with strapping ourselves into... erm... I forgot what it's called. I shall name it, "body-strapper". That sounds weird, let's change it to "the thing". Anyways, we learned how to strap on the thing properly so that it isn't lose. It is important to make sure it's not too loose as it is dangerous if it's loose. Took us quite long before we are all set to go to the next step.

After strapping us into the thing, we learned how to tie a few knots. 1 of them is a figure of 8. We had to do tie double figure of 8 to make sure it's real tight. Then we have to tie another knot to it so that it ends the rope. I forgot what the other knot was... Yes, I forgot things easily ok. -_-" But at least I remember how to tie it.

This is how you tie a figure of 8

Then it was time to learn how to support your teammate. In case the climber falls, you can lock the harness and stop him from falling. Do it wrong and you partner comes flying down and you go flying up. It'll be a bit... tight in the bottom area if that happens. You'll get what I mean.

The instructor is pretty cute actually.

After a long preparation session, we get to climb!!! If you guys never climbed before, you guys should really try it!! It's adrenaline pumping. Every step must be planned, especially the walls with only trickier rocks placements. Word of advice, never use running shoes when wall climbing. The base of the shoe is a lot wider than normal ones thus making it hard to step on the small rocks. The higher you climb, the faster the adrenaline pumps. Pulling yourself up, kicking the rock to go higher, it is just AWESOME. After you reach the top, you'll have to come down. Whatever goes up must come down. We have to let go of the rock and trust our partner. If he screws up, you're pretty much gonna get hurt or just feel some sort of pain in the crotch. Let the photos do the talking. Too lazy to write anymore. ^_^

Now my turn to climb!!! Note that I wearing 2 pants that day. So my leg is not that fat. I'm not kidding. -_-"""

Nice shoes right~

Reached the top!!

Going down~~

Someone took this picture. Looks nice.

This wraps up my rock climbing post. The Revolution post will come when I have less distractions when I am blogging. We danced on stage for the 1st time!!! Expect it to come soon~!! I will update more often from now on. The small posts with little things. Not like this posts. At least there's something new to read when you come to my blog right? xD

Task 5

Hello everybody~! Week 5 means Task 5~! For this exciting and fun post, you will know the courses I've taken in the University of Canterbury because I will be describing them~! Now sit back and relax as this post will blow you away!

As I've told you in Task 4, I've taken the subjects the business subjects. For my 2nd semester, I've taken English(compulsory), Statistics, Accounting and Economics for Semester 2. All of the subjects are interesting to me. Accounting is a repeat subject for me of some sort. I've done it in high school before but in a different language so I'm converting from Malay to English. Statistics is quite fun as it is the only maths related subject I have now. I think it is a compulsory subject for being a accountant so I chose that subject too. English is quite important too because I never cited or quote anyone before in my essay. In the university, we have to have our own sources and paraphrase other people's work into our essay as our own ideas isn't very important. If I didn't know that during Year 1 in uni, I would've failed my assignments and so on.

Question in the task:
Do you think you will pass the exams and is it important to you to pass them? What will happen or be said if you do pass and what will happen if you do not?

I'm pretty sure I'll pass the exams... It is quite important to pass them as I would have to pay for the summer course and do the courses again. Like they say, time is money. Let's see... I would be happy if I pass my exams. Crying and moaning is quite unlikely. If I don't pass the exams, I would have to fork out money to go to the summer course. That would really suck. Really really suck. Better not fail then.

Is it 100 words? It better be.... Off to task 6!! My blog's being checked today at 5pm so rushing to finish the tasks until task 6. -_-"

Note: I randomly chose a photo from the University of Canterbury website to fulfill the requirement of posting a photo of the international student. So I do not know them. =]

Task 4

We're up to task 4 this week!! Rejoice because it's almost halfway done!!! I said rejoice. Rejoice now!! *_*

This time I will describe the reasons for choosing courses that will help me in my degree courses. It would be because I've studied it before. Accounting, Economics and Commerce are the subjects I've done in high school so deciding which courses to take is a breeze. I will be studying accounting for my degree anyway so I will be surely be studying business subjects in my foundation. These courses are the ones my father wanted me to take too. He wants me to take a business degree, preferably an accounting degree. Though I doubt my friends would give opinions on what I should study. We usually just say study whatever you like or study whatever suits you or even study whatever there is.

Family.... Always thinking what's best for you. It is always good to listen to your family about what courses you should take. But voice out what you would want to study too. Being forced to study what you don't like wouldn't be a good idea. You'll be kicking and screaming going to the university, you'll keep cursing that you don't like the course, you'll hate the course to bits, you'll study less about it as you don't like it and thus fail the course. It'll be a waste of money and time. Good thing I like business courses when my dad wanted me to study business. The only science subjects I like is physics. Chemistry and Biology sucks. End of argument.

The last question given to me in my Task 4 assignment.
If you could start again would you choose different courses?

The truth is, I wouldn't want to choose a different course. Nor would I want to start again. Maybe some of you would jump at the opportunity to turn back time and start again. The course is going pretty well for me so why would I want to start a course I'm doing quite well on?? Would anyone of you want to turn back time and start a different course??

P.S. I'm required to give you a HYPERLINK on the university website. I just used a word not much of you guys would understand. I feel smarter already. Muahahaha.

Czone Cellgroup Competition Night!!! Part 2

Ok, onward with part 2!!! Be very grateful because I haven't done Task 4 for the ICT assignment and I'm doing personal blogging 1st. Lock and Load.

We had a few more activities after the story telling time from Wilson. We played another Team Game!!! This game is trickier. 1st off we split out into our own cellgroup. I happen to be in the cellgroup called H2O. Abreviation from Heart 2 Obey. Kinda sounds like Hard 2 Obey eh. Nevertheless it's a nice cellgroup where everyone is friendly and kind and fun~! Muhahaha. Anyways, the game is played like this. 8 people will be tied towards a marker. 2 or more will be the ones who will give orders to the people tied to the marker. There will be a bottle somewhere in the middle of 8 people and the coordinators will have to give orders to them to get the marker into the bottle. Anyone pulling any harder will tilt the marker sideways and thus making it unable to go into the bottle. The aim is for us to realise how teamwork is important but so is listening to our leader's orders. Any rebellion from a certain part of a team will cause the objective being carried out to fail. Kinda makes you feel impatient when the marker doesn't go in when it LOOKS as if it was suppose to go in. Ha ha. In the end we lose by 3 seconds to the winner. And the winning cellgroup suddenly name their cellgroup as Destroy for the night. -_-"

I didn't eat dinner before that so I was hungry.

Is that guy familiar??

Sure you never seen that guy before??

Someone who studies physics should know the answer.

Ok, after that is Drama competition!!! Woohoo!!! I just love drama competitions. We get to be creative and we can do lots of funny stuff in it. But for some odd reason, I never win in drama competitions. T_T We are given 3 parables from the bible to choose from. Don't ask me which parable it is because I already forget them all. My cellgroup chose to do a drama about... some farmer guy who threw seeds to the ground, then got bird eat, then throw seeds again but landed on rock which died of dehydration, then throw again and it landed on thorns which suffocated the plants. Finally when his aiming got better, he threw it on good soil. Wonder how long did he train to do that. -_-" The plants grew into beautiful plants. Well, I forgot the meaning of the parable too so no comment on it. Ask Hannah, she should know.

Listening to Kelvin giving summary of the 3 parables in the book of Luke.

Our cellgroup's leader, Evelyn!!!

Discussion for drama is over!! Nervous nervous.

Before the drama, our dance team is performing!!! WOOT WOOT!!!! Give it up for Czone's dance team!!! I'm in it by the way. xD

"Everybody, here's the dance group of Czone!!"

After the drama, we were treated a video of a few basketballers using basketballs to create fantastic music. They were sooooo coordinated. Oh man, words could not describe how cool it is. Every sound and beat was nicely done by them. The timing was perfect. The basketballers were shoo-ed by a chef upstairs for being noisy then the scene shifted to the kitchen. The head chef and his chefs made music by banging on the pans and chopping and all sorts of stuff. It was awesome too!! Then the meeting was ended with some praise and worship. We jumped and stuff and it ended with a Blast!!

Watching the Video

Must be too absorbed in the Video

Sing for God my dudes!!

We took some group photos too. I love group photos. I don't know why but I just love group photos. Below are the group photos we took. 1 of them are of the dance group~!

Group Photo!!!

Now pose!!!

The dance team!!!

Morija the German Girl!!!

FINALLY, the moment of truth!!! Some of you may not have seen me dancing properly so I present to you me freestyling. I wanted to show abi how I dance too. And I've never seen myself dance so I video it down that night. It was when we were fooling around after the last dance practice. Enjoy~~~ Going to bed now. =D

P.S. The video had to be rotated to be straight so I look kinda stubby. NOT BECAUSE I LOOK LIKE THAT NATURALLY.

P.S.2 I cut my hair. I look like a monkey now. T_T

Czone Cellgroup Competition Night!!! Part 1

Edit: Forgot to post 1 more photo I edited. Part 2 coming up tomorrow.

Yesterday was an awesome night!!! It was a Czone Cellgroup Competition Night!! (I made that up actually, but it was a competition between cellgroups) Chisel Zone is our youth's name by the way. Abbreviated as Czone. Anyways, I was snapping photos for the whole night but 30-40% if them are blur. ARGH!!! I wan an SLR camera!!! My camera cannot focus properly under yellow light or under low light!!!

Example of a blur photo

Many of you might not know that I started dancing since I came to New Zealand. Yes, I DANCE. DO NOT LAUGH. -_-""" Dancing is fun ok. We had to perform during competition night. My dance group went early to do some last practices. We fooled around after the practice to kill time before youth starts.

Cha cha cha

Monkey!! Wheee

Score is 2-5 now. Don't bother us.

The youth meeting this time is to convey the message of teamwork and talents. A group must always work as a team to achieve their goals. If a group is doing something without working together, the result would be disastrous. We played a few team based games to show how communication and teamwork is required in a team to win.

Arsenal rules!!

1st up is fashion show. We split between 2 teams, 5 guys and 5 girls. There are items on the table where each team will have to take one and walk down fashionably down the lane like a model. The 2nd person will have to take a new item and wear it on together with what the previous person use. For the guys the last item is the lipstick and our man, Mervlyn(not too sure of the spelling) made the ultimate sacrifice for the team. Go dude! We won because of you!!

Next up is talent time. Inside all of us, there is a talent that is waiting to be discovered. Czone would like to discover that talent inside all of us and slowly develop that talent. It is nice to know that you are good at something. Even if you do not have talent for a certain activity, you can slowly develop it and be good at it. A guy in our youth wrote some songs for that night. His name is Ken. A really talented song writer. He wrote 2 song for that night and the 2nd song was done in a few days or hours time. I forgot. One of the song was based on the parable of the lost son. Cool right?

He's holding a bible if you didn't know.

Then it was Gracey's turn!! Gracey showed us her video editing talent and her photo shooting talent. She captured the various sceneries beauty perfectly. Then she used the photos she took and made them into a video for us to see with some wise words included in them to suit the photos. Pretty good for a 16 year old girl.

She's nervous. haha.

Then it was story telling time by Wilson. He told us how God works in mysterious ways and that God is indeed merciful. He told a true story about W. He didn't want to tell the audience who that person really is so he used the name W for that "certain" person. Geez, like we can't figure out who is W. In short, the story is about W made a mistake by copying other people's assignment and handed it in mistakenly and was about to get his friend into trouble. The night before he meet the Head of Department, he seek advice from his friends and his friends asked him to pray. So he was like "Wth, how's God gonna get me out of this one. I'm gonna get my friend into trouble." His friends made a bet with him that if it turned out fine after praying, he'll share his story in Czone. In the end, he made it out without getting his friend into trouble.

I just like this pic. looks nice.

Stay tuned for part 2 of the night.

P.S.
Not all my posts will be this long. I just love that night so much and I have enough photos to describe it in detail. Hiaks hiaks.

Task 3

Hello all! It's the third week so Task 3 is up! A new set of questions to answer to amuse you people reading it. Let's start~

When I decided to come to New Zealand to further my studies, I told everyone about it. My friends and I frequently discuss about where we are going to study during 2007 so we keep each other updated about our decisions. All of them kept asking when am I going to New Zealand. Even though I kept telling them it's around February, they keep forgetting it. Sheesh.

Before i leave Kuching, I asked my friends for a lunch together in Sarawak Club. That was after it was burnt down. Stupid club have to be burnt before I leave. Lousy fireman, practically everything was burnt to bits even though they are there "saving" it. Anyways, it was a nice lunch. We ate lots of nice food. Didn't take much photos because I was busy eating too.

Then, the day came. 13 February. The day I leave Kuching. I had a hell lot happening the night before. Definitely not what I picture how I would feel the night before. Wanna say sorry abi~ didn't mean to argue with you~~ Carrying on, I had breakfast with my friends the morning before. Went to pick some of them up and ate breakfast in Green Road. Almost made me miss the plane. After that, my friends send me off at the airport. I had this feeling, that we will meet again, and everyone will be a different person when we meet again. To improve, to be stronger, to be better. It was my resolution. But leaving Abigail was hard. I almost cried in the boarding room. I felt so bad because I didn't buy anything for Abigail before I leave. It was mortifying. <--- in case u guys don't know what it means, neither do I. Trying to be PRO here.

When I boarded the plane, the feelings was... unexplainable. A new journey is going to begin. I'll have to do everything myself from now on. 1st time going overseas ALONE.

I feel that my blog is so lame. -_-"

When I boarded the plane, that feeling was... unexplainable. A new journey's going to begin. Everything had to be done by myself now. If anything had gone wrong, I would have to deal with it myself. 1st time traveling overseas ALONE. Everything went well though. I only stopped at Singapore to change airplane for a direct flight to Christchurch. But I had to wait at Changi Airport for 8-9 hours. Ugh, I hate waiting. I LOATHE waiting. The irony is that I am always late therefore making other people wait. Rofl. Anyways, being alone in the airport really sucks. Nothing to do, no one to talk to and etc. So I sat there scratching my ass for 8-9 hours. Sure had one hell of a time. The flight the Christchurch took me 10 hours or more. BUT, there were enough movies for me to entertain myself till touchdown.

When I reach Christchurch, the customs seem to be checking my visa and stuff very carefully. Do I look so suspicious?? -_-""" My bro was waiting at the airport for me. We couldn't find my agent. After calling him, we notice he was sitting on the row of chairs. Lazy ass guy, couldn't he hold up a sign or something to show he's my agent. My 1st step out of the airport, and I see NAKED LADIES WALKING AROUND!! Ok, maybe not that. There wasn't anything special about it. Just a normal airport. I thought it had robots shooting lasers out of their eyes and we had to dodge them to get to the car.

This is getting long... a few more questions to answer...

My first day in University of Canterbury was alright. Met a few people, namely Alvin, who is from Malaysia too. It was better than I expected and bla bla bla. So many questions... I'm referring to the Task 3 questions that I'm suppose to answer using this post.

Phew~ Done!! 7 more to go!!
